NHL Draft Project Schedule

by Matt Reitz on June 13, 2009

The 2009 NHL Entry Draft will start on June 26th and will continue over the weekend at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec. Last year the NHL changed up the format and had the 1st round on Friday and the rest of the draft on Saturday. Apparently that worked out pretty well, because the format will be replicated this year. The first round will start at 4 pm (PDT) on Friday, June 26 on Versus and Rounds 2-7 will start at 7 am (PDT) on Saturday, June 27 (NHL Network).

Do you think the New York Islanders are going to take Tavares #1?

We’re really excited about a project that’s going to launch here at VFMS tomorrow. Starting June 15th, we’ll have a guest blogger from each of the Top 10 teams come in and give their $.02. We’ll ask them what some of their strengths were last season (not many for some of them), some of the strengths of their pipeline and who they think their GM will go after. If that sounds like something you’re interested in—GOOD, because there will be much more! Of course, I’ll be here to drop in some thoughts from an outsider’s perspective on each team.

There’s a lot of good stuff coming your way in the next couple of weeks. If one of your teams is picking in the Top 10—it’s finally time to renew that hope for next season. If your team has been playing in the playoffs, don’t you want to keep tabs on the future of the league?

If you haven’t already subscribed to the site to keep you posted via e-mail (or RSS Feeds & Twitter), this might be the time to do so, so you don’t miss out on any of the updates!

Here’s the schedule of our Draft Previews coming up!

1. New York Islanders June 15
2. Tampa Bay Lightning June 16
3. Colorado Avalanche June 17
4. Atlanta Thrashers June 18
5. Los Angeles Kings June 19
6. Phoenix Coyotes June 20
7. Toronto Maple Leafs June 22
8. Dallas StarsJune 23
9. Ottawa Senators June 24
10. Edmonton Oilers – June 25
Bonus #11: Nashville Predators – June 26

If you've been back this many times and aren't a subscriber, what are you waiting for? Even if our RSS feeds scare the hell you (because you don't quite understand RSS), we promise the email alerts aren't painful at all. Seriously, a money-back-guarantee-even-though-its-free kind of promise.
