Daily Cross Checks

Tuesday October 20

Daily-Cross-Checks
Who’s playing in the NHL tonight? Where can I find it on TV? When should I turn on the aforementioned TV? Most importantly, should I even bother turning on the TV? Here’s a place to find all the games of the night and talk about them to your hearts content. Don’t worry, tomorrow we’ll start all over. Hockey fans, these are your Daily Cross-Checks.

St Louis at Pittsburgh
Time: 4 PM PST
TV: VERSUS (HD),TSN2 (HD), (read: NOT AVALIABLE on DirecTV)
Remember when there were questions about Marc Andre Fleury and if he was ever going to live up to his #1 overall draft pick status? Dude is 7-0 with a .922 save percentage and a goals against at 2.09. Penguin fans have to be feeling pretty good about that former question mark. As far as the Blues go, I have no idea what to expect from them tonight. They started the season with 2 wins against the Red Wings and destroyed the Ducks 5-0 in their last game. Unfortunately, they weren’t as impressive in those games in between.

Atlanta at Montreal
Time: 4:30 PM PST
TV: RDS,TSN (HD)
Do you know who has the best record in the Southeast Division? If you go by points, the Caps—but if you go by the amount of points earned per game, surprisingly it’s the Atlanta Thrashers. Led by Ilya Kovalchuk’s scorching hot start (7 goals in only 5 games) and decent goaltending by Ondrej Pavelec (.918 save percentage), the Thrashers might be the only team that is around to challenge the Caps at the end of the season. The Canadiens? Well, at least they’re above the Leafs in the Northeast.

Columbus at Calgary
Time: 6:30 PM PST
TV: FS-O (HD),SNET-W (HD)
Two of the top teams in the West measure themselves against one another as the 1 loss Blue Jackets take on the 2 loss (in regulation) Flames. I wonder if Kristian Huselius even gets up for games in Calgary anymore. Hell, I wonder if people in Calgary even remember that he was on the Flames for 3 years!
