Daily Cross Checks
Friday October 23

Who’s playing in the NHL tonight? Where can I find it on TV? When should I turn on the aforementioned TV? Most importantly, should I even bother turning on the TV? Here’s a place to find all the games of the night and talk about them to your heart’s content. Don’t worry, tomorrow we’ll start all over. Hockey fans, these are your Daily Cross-Checks.
Florida at Pittsburgh
Time: 4:30 PM PST
TV: RIS,NHLN-CA,FS-F (HD),FS-P (HD)
I’m not sure the Penguins could pick a better opponent to start this stretch without Sergei Gonchar. People forget that while Pittsburgh struggled until Bylsma was brought in as coach last season; the turnaround also coincided with the return of Gonchar. As for the Panthers, they need to score more goals and stop giving up so many shots. Yep, I think that pretty much sums it up.
Minnesota at St Louis
Time: 5 PM PST
TV: FS-MW (HD)
After their shootout win against the Avalanche on Wednesday, it’s back to the road for the Wild. They’re 2-0 at home; but 0-6 on the road. Yeah, I’m sure they’re thrilled to be back on the road! Not only are they playing away from the Xcel Energy Center, but they’re playing against a team that has been either wildly impressive or woefully dreadful. Which team will show up? The team that killed the Ducks? Or was killed by the Pens?
Carolina at Colorado
Time: 6 PM PST
TV: FS-CR (HD),ALT (HD)
The Avs return to the Rockies after a successful 7 game road trip. The Hurricanes continue their own road trip that has already featured a game where they were shut out and another where they gave the Islanders their first win of the season. It’s early in the season, but neither of these teams are performing like any of us expected!
