Daily Cross Checks

Monday October 26

Daily-Cross-Checks
Who’s playing in the NHL tonight? Where can I find it on TV? When should I turn on the aforementioned TV? Most importantly, should I even bother turning on the TV? Here’s a place to find all the games of the night and talk about them to your heart’s content. Don’t worry, tomorrow we’ll start all over. Hockey fans, these are your Daily Cross-Checks.

Phoenix at NY Rangers
Time: 4 PM PST
TV: FS-A,MSG (HD)
The Phoenix start their East Coast swing with a visit to the Garden to play the slumping Rangers. Dubinsky and Higgins took a seat for the end of the loss against the Habs—so we’ll see if that gave them the wake up call that they need. My prediction for the Coyotes trip: People will be reminded how good Shane Doan is while he’s in the Eastern Time Zone. Then promptly forget once they leave.

NY Islanders at Montreal
Time: 4:30 PM PST
TV: RDS,MSG PLUS (HD)
Didn’t these two teams just play? Wasn’t it also IN Montreal? Wasn’t Jaroslav Halak in goal as well? It’s like déjà vu all over again. Hopefully for Isles fans this game is a little closer than the 5-1 debacle that happened last time in Montreal. As long as it doesn’t go to overtime—those have been a mess thus far.

Minnesota at Chicago
Time: 5 PM PST
TV: VERSUS (HD),TSN2 (HD)
Brent Seabrook and Jonathan Toews are both still questionable for the Blackhawks—probably a good thing that it’s the Wild coming to the Windy City. Yes, the 0-7 on the road Minnesota Wild. On the plus side, they’re 2-1 in their last 3 games with both wins coming AFTER 60 minutes of regulation time. We’ll see if they can break that pointless streak on the road at the United Center.

Toronto at Anaheim
Time: 7 PM PST
TV: LEAFS TV (HD),PRIME (HD)
I’ll go out on a limb and say this is the Brian Burke Bowl. Tonight’s late game features his former team that has been struggling against his current team that has been struggling. The good news is that someone is going to get 2 points. Well, maybe that’s bad news for the rest of the league. Regardless, both teams that had high expectations going into the season look to use this as an opportunity to kick-start their seasons. (Jonas Hiller is probable, but we can all hope that Pogge gets the start for the Ducks!)
