The Avs also got a steal when they drafted Stefan Elliott in the second round. Imagine if he pans out into a top 4 defenseman. Has great offensive prowess and underrated defensive skills. I’m really liking the Avs 09′ draft though.

This is the first time I’ve read your stuff. Very well done. The Avalanche have gone from having the weakest center line up in the NHL last year (injuries to Sakic and Stastny) to having one of deepest. O’Rielly is without a doubt a fantastic find. He’s not spectacular in any area except maybe his awareness. That’s a really difficult thing to scout.

Not a bad stop-gap. What’s funny is that I don’t even think of him as a fantasy guy; but his stats say that I probably should. 18 year old, 2-way forward that plays with intelligence AND has been putting the biscuit in the basket. Not a bad 2nd rounder….

I picked up Ryan O’Reilly as a stop-gap while Savard was injured but this guy has been tearing it up on my fantasy team.

I’m still shocked at how lights-out the Avs have been this season. They had one hell of a draft.
