Daily Cross Checks

Saturday November 7

Daily-Cross-Checks
Who’s playing in the NHL tonight? Where can I find it on TV? When should I turn on the aforementioned TV? Most importantly, should I even bother turning on the TV? Here’s a place to find all the games of the night and talk about them to your heart’s content. Don’t worry, tomorrow we’ll start all over. Hockey fans, these are your Daily Cross-Checks.

Nashville at Los Angeles
Time: 1 PM PST
TV: None Listed
Preds fans hope that their 4-0 doesn’t symbolize a change back to the beginning of the season. With how the Kings are scoring, they’re going to need a few more than usual.

New Jersey at Ottawa
Time: 4 PM PST
TV: CBC,MSG PLUS 2
Is Martin Brodeur still trying to break the all-time shutout record?

Buffalo at Boston
Time: 4 PM PST
TV: MSG-B,NESN (HD)
Ryan Miller vs. a struggling offense? Good luck with that Boston.

Atlanta at NY Islanders
Time: 4 PM PST
TV: MSG PLUS (HD)
The Thrashers got off to a great start and the Islanders have been great as of late. Put them together and you might have a pretty good team!

Carolina at Columbus
Time: 4 PM PST
TV: FS-CR,FS-O (HD)
Just what the doctor ordered for the Blue Jackets. Not only do they get the Hurricanes—but they get the Eric Staal-less Hurricanes.

Florida at Washington
Time: 4 PM PST
TV: FS-F (HD),CSN-DC (HD)
A huge collision between Southeast foes! Ok, I can’t even pretend. Can we just give the Caps the Southeast Division crown now?

Tampa Bay at Montreal
Time: 4 PM PST
TV: CBC,RDS,SUN
No Victor Hedman for this one—for once the people in Montreal can be happy about something Chris Neil did. Even though Lecavalier appearances are always a big thing in Quebec, the Habs might want to focus on Steven Stamkos.

Detroit at Toronto
Time: 4 PM PST
TV: CBC (HD),NHLN-US,FS-D (HD)
Is this the game that the Maple Leafs are going to get their first win at home? Somehow, I think they had a better chance against the Lightning. But who’s to say that the Lightning aren’t better than the Red Wings, right?

St Louis at Philadelphia
Time: 4 PM PST
TV: FS-MW,CSN-PH (HD)
The Flyers have been pretty damn good at home. The Blues are going to have to figure out how to give a better offensive performance than they did against Calgary if they want to even scare the Flyers.

Dallas at Minnesota
Time: 5 PM PST
TV: FS-SW (HD),KSTC
Are there any Stars fans left in Minnesota? Mike Modano I understand, but I’m starting to get the feeling that era is over. The transformation may be complete.

Phoenix at Anaheim
Time: 7 PM PST
TV: KDOC
The only television for this game is a public broadcast channel in Orange County. And you wonder why no one talks about these teams in their own markets.

NY Rangers at Calgary
Time: 7 PM PST
TV: CBC (HD),MSG PLUS (HD)
New Yorkers are going to have to stay up late for this one, but at least it’s not on a school night! They can thank CBC and Hockey Night in Canada for the late start (even for Calgary).

Pittsburgh at San Jose
Time: 7:30 PM PST
TV: FS-P (HD),CSN-CA (HD)
The 3rd game for the Penguins in California this week. It must be nice to get just about all of your long travel over with in one week of the season. Regardless, this is your battle between Conference Leaders. I think this is where I’m supposed to say, “Potential Stanley Cup Final Preview,” right?
