Daniel Carcillo was suspended for 4 games for his punch to Matt Bradley’s chin. I honestly have no idea if there’s a method to the madness that comes from the league’s offices anymore. Six months ago, Scott Walker connected with Aaron Ward’s face and didn’t receive so much as a game for his troubles. In a similar situation (NOT identical), Carcillo will be sitting for the next 4 games without pay for his transgressions.
Once again, there’s very little rhyme or reason to the suspensions that are handed down from Colin Campbell. Would the Flyers forward have been suspended if punched Bradley anywhere other than his Goodnight Button? Would he have been suspended if his name was Ryan Malone or Jarome Iginla?
Here’s a newsflash: there’s a double-standard when it comes to suspensions in the NHL. Am I surprised that he was suspended? Not at all. Do I think he should have been suspended? Eh, I can see arguments for both sides. Should he have been suspended for 4 games? Unless you’re a Capitals fan, then probably not.
Here’s the video of the incident that we’re talking about. No, there wasn’t a dirty hit or something that Bradley was defending. This is it. Does this look like a 4 game suspension to you? I know I’m in the minority when I say no—so tell how long you think his suspension should be and why!
