VFMS Podcast: Episode 3 (Click To Download)

PODCAST with MIC

Episode 3 of the VFMS Podcast is up for your listening pleasure. There are a few different ways to listen. You can either stream the show directly from your computer to your ears at BlogTalkRadio. If you’re into downloading or subscribing to podcasts for your iPod, all you have to do is click the handy iTunes link once you get to the show’s page. And if you want to download it, you can do that too.  Of course, you can also bypass the site all together and go straight to iTunes.

In Episode #3, we make up for lost time and really get into the Pacific Division. In case you haven’t noticed—the San Jose and Phoenix are both on fire. We’ll talk about both of them including a special, in-depth look at the Coyotes. Aside from the division leaders, we talk about the Justin Williams injury, all of the Ducks injuries and the Stars problems in shootouts (and overtime).

We also took a look at some of the best players of the decade. Both Jen and I choose the Player of the Decade for each team from the Pacific Division. We got the idea from a project I participated in for LAKings.com and HockeywoodLA.com—but instead of simply looking at the Center position or wingers, we picked the best overall player. Some teams were easier than others. Feel free to let us know in the comments section if you agree with our picks. More likely, let us know who you think we SHOULD have picked!

Now that we’re back on schedule, next week’s show will be at our usual time. You can look for it at 8:00 PST / 11:00 EST on Tuesday, January 5th. We’ll talk about a couple of the Pacific Division teams (not all), take a look back at the 2010 Bridgestone Winter Classic and check out all of the Pacific Division players that were selected to represent their country in the 2010 Olympics. And yes, we’ll even talk about Mikael Samulesson!

Whatever, Matt… you’ve been a Yotes fan for at LEAST 6 days now! For the record, Keith – Giguere was my second pick for Anaheim. Thanks for the feedback! :)

As far as Chris is concerned, do you REALLY think I’d give up the Getz jersey? You can head over to NHL.com and hook him up – I’ve already shipped the M&Ms to Cali for his next trip….

Yeah, for the record… I was only a Coyotes fan for the 45 minutes of the podcast. Between Tippett, their top 3 lines that are SO well rounded and Bryzgalov being one of the best goalies in the world, I’m a little afraid of them.

I like your picks of the decade for each team. ;) I thought I was going to get a lot of crap for that JS Giguere pick for the Ducks… glad to see SOMEONE agrees with me.

As far as Chris goes… I could have provided the green M&Ms. Jen could have provided the Getzlaf jersey. You could have provided the jet…

Good show, guys! I have to agree (reluctantly) that Phoenix is the real deal. After watching them this season, it’s pretty clear that Gretzky was not a good coach. I’m very interested to see the moves they make at the deadline. They have the depth.

My players of the decade are:

1. Giguere (ANA)
2. Modano (DAL)
3. Kopitar (LAK)
4. Doan (PHX)
5. Marleau (SJS)

PS, I spoke to Chris about why he didn’t offer to call-in from Mexico. He responded that you couldn’t offer him what he wanted: a private jet, a bowl of green M&M’s and a Getzlaf jersey. Sorry, he’s that guy.
