VFMS Podcast: February 9, 2010 (Click To Download)

PODCAST with MIC

The February 9th episode of the VFMS Podcast is up for your listening pleasure. There are a few different ways to listen. You can either stream the show directly from your computer to your ears at BlogTalkRadio. If you’re into downloading or subscribing to podcasts for your iPod, all you have to do is click the handy iTunes link once you get to the show’s page. And if you want to download it, you can do that too. Of course, you can also bypass the site all together and go straight to iTunes.

For the first time in weeks, we did NOT get into an in-depth conversation about the Ducks, their team or their goaltending. For some reason, that makes me think of the “Hooray for Beer!” commercials. Regardless, we DO get into the current state of the streaking Kings. After we break down L.A.’s recent 9 game winning streak, we take a look at the Dallas Stars. Injury problems and financial worries are not the recipe for success—but they ARE treading water.

We also get into some of the biggest disappointments in the Pacific Division thus far. Unfortunately, here are a few that did NOT make the list.

- Ice Edge Holdings looking like a competent organization.

- Dany Heatley not requesting a trade yet.

- Corey Perry’s pending endorsement of “The School of Etiquette and Manners.”

Here are some links that give you some background to our conversation and will help you keep up with the Pacific.

Dallas Stars
A rundown of the most recent injury news for the beat-up Stars (Andrew’s Stars Page)

Tons of updates about the Lehtonen/Vishnevski trade. (Defending Big D)

Ivan Vishnevski was rated the #48 overall prospect. For perspective, that’s 2 spots higher than Jaime Benn. Hockeys Future

@JeffMarek from Hockey Night in Canada
Tweet of the Week: “Who tells Marty Turco in the intermission? 1-0 Dallas 9 minutes in.”

Los Angeles Kings
For a look at a few of the players that have surprised this season, let me submit to you Wayne Simmonds and Brad Richardson. Thanks Gann. (Frozen Royalty)

Life In Hockeywood brings us a little nugget of awesomeness. This is exactly why the YouTube should be known to all (hint: you’ll definitely need sound on your computer for this one). I freely admit it was much funnier BEFORE Monday night’s game in Anaheim. Payback’s a b*tch, Bobby Ryan

Around the Pacific

A look at why Ryan Getzlaf might have some serious problems when playing against those other two Californian teams. (Battle of California)

Jonathan Willis takes a look at how Patrick Marleau is playing almost exactly as well as he did last season. Hockey Or Die

While you’re over at Hockey Or Die, you can check out Jonathan’s look at possible replacements if Ryan Getzlaf couldn’t make it to the Olympics.

“Trade Targets” will be a recurring piece on Fear The Fin until the March 3rd deadline. This should start getting you worked up for our trade talk during the Olympic break. (Fear The Fin)

Next week’s show will be at our usual time (8:00 PST / 11:00 EST on Tuesday, February 16th). We’ll be welcoming Brandon Worley from the Dallas Stars blog Defending Big D, as well as Rink Side Radio. As usual, we’ll give a snap shot of all the Pacific Division teams and delve deeper into some of the players and teams that play on the West Coast (and Dallas).
